The February Process

Because we are cutting hours and shipping all of our employees off to other branches to work on expansion projects in order to keep them, my hours, as a salaried employee, will be longer in February. And because I know that will longer hours the blog will be reduced down to witty one-liners like “Why do we drive on a Parkway and park in a driveway?” I’m being proactive. My journal entries will still be performed during the week, but the blogs are written en masse on the weekends and then copied and pasted on the corresponding weekdays. I know that this is probably “cheating”—but there’s an entry every day that’s longer than a text message, so I’m not going to be picky at this point.

My continued goal, as a reminder, is to find topics to write on that fascinate me and stimulate me—which means I will probably still be sourcing them from the New York Times, the New Yorker, the San Francisco Chronicle, and other print media. The good doctor wants me to hang out in museums and artistic venues to find people who stimulate me (which at this point in the game leaves me a little more than skeptical, but feeding the mind with the surroundings is a good place to start, I think), and I want to write on these experiences as well. At the present time the only people who stimulate me mentally are my roommate and my on-line contacts, and I want to broaden that field in person. Hopefully the adventure that ensues will be an interesting read. As always, my intent is to stay positive—from time to time I will slip into grumpy, but that’s a well-worn human feature and I want to write my way back out of it.

May you enjoy this journey, dear reader, and I will do my best to produce my best…
