I have been suffering from some sleep issues lately that I KNOW stem from work stuff. I go to sleep around 9 pm to get up at 5:30 am on weekdays and I wake up at 1 am for no reason and can't make it back to sleep, and then am miserable the next day.
I was brushing through the blogs this morning (Concrete, Mojodad, Treated and Released, Breed 'Em and Weep, etc) and looking for more to read when I remembered that I hadn't read my mentor Po in a while. (Po and T.T. blog with about the same consistency...*sniff*) When I say a while I mean that I checked the whole damn summer and saw nothing (he's working on a book, Jo, give him a break now) and then thought, okay, I'll just wait for the book. So, since September I haven't checked it.
It's full of posts now, heh-heh.

Po and his writing partner Ashley Merryman have collaberated on a series on sleep deprivation for kids, and the cultural, intellectual, and health risks to that deprivation. They had two articles in New York Magazine in October and then an extensive series of comments on their blog. One particularly post and comment in the article screamed out at me: "Kids are taught that more sleep is for wusses." Yes, and so are adults--I know that my boss loves to tell me how she worked so much she only got 4 hours of sleep a night. I hate it, but then I don't want to "get ahead," I don't want to achieve phenomenal things every week or even overnight--I want to get the job done right and achieve satisfaction in that. I don't care where I end up on the social stratum, as long as my superiors let me do what I was hired to do.
But they aren't, and maybe that's why I am not sleeping well. :)
Any tips for restful sleep would be appreciated. Selah, dear reader...

Yoga.
I don't think I'm infringing on privacy here when I say that MH suggested offline a combination of exercise and meditation as well, so we have some points adding up here for that combination.
The exercise can't happen right now, unfortunately (Accutane robs your muscles and joints of all their power--I feel like Superman on Kryptonite, *sigh*), but I'm sure that I can research for EXTREMELY low impact yoga moves that might help, and then try some meditation outside of my journaling.
Thanks much for your contributions all, and I will keep you posted...as well as on my job hunt.
Jo, someone landed on my blog today as the result of a search engine query for "anime shower curtain." Who do you think I thought of first?
Ahahahahahaha!
Are anime shower curtains 97% transparent? The label on mine says 96! Where did they find theirs?
KIDDING...
Someone landed on mine with the question, Does Concrete Burn?
You just never know... I, for one, never knew Jo had an anime shower curtain ;-)
